Just the Job - launched in partnership with the Herefordshire Business Board - aims to get year 6 and 7 pupils thinking about the type of job they would like to do when they are older.
Our Year 6 children have been exceptionally busy producing a written entry, poster or video which outlines what jobs they would like to do, what skills they might need and how school and education can help them make their dreams come true.
The High Sheriff, who runs Leominster-based Thomas Panels and Profiles with her husband, Richie and son, George, said it was never too early to get children thinking about how their education would prepare them for work.
"As an employer myself I see too many young people unprepared for the world of work. Not all have the basics: being punctual, reliable, willing, positive, listening, speaking calmly, consideration for others, following a process.
"These traits are POWER skills - having them empowers you - and their importance is increasingly being recognised by employers.
"I have come to realise we need to start early with young people, building confidence, getting them to think about the kind of subjects they like, what kind of skills they already have, what they need, and what they can be in the future.
Frank Myers MBE, Chairman of Herefordshire Business Board, added: "We were delighted when Trish approached us with her ideas. We would urge all schools across the county to take part in this wonderful initiative which will have long-term benefits for the children, their schools and the whole county."
