Week beginning 3rd May 2021

Week Beginning 3rd May 2021:

Hello Reception,

We hope you have had a fantastic bank holiday weekend.

This week are continuing to look at our topic Once Upon a time and are starting a new story 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears. To improve our story telling skills and develop our language we will use Pie Corbett's Talk for Writing actions to help us retell the story.

We will be exploring and thinking about who lives where and using descriptive language to talk about the houses. We are continuing to develop the child's independent writing skills by encouraging them to segment as independently as possible. We are focusing on using the correct letter formation too.

We are thinking about pattern and shape and continuing to explore numbers to twenty.

We will be exploring all things Goldilocks throughout our different areas of Reception and will be trying to create a chair for baby bear that holds him without breaking.

A few house keeping reminders:
PE days are now Monday and Tuesday so please ensure your child is wearing kit on those days and those days only. All children who's hair is longer than their shoulders needs to be tied up and all earrings are removed or taped up.

Please ensure your child is coming to school wearing the correct uniform including the correct PE kit and shoes. If there is any issues please speak to your child's class teacher.

Please make sure that children have the correct outdoor clothing for the weather conditions and that their spare clothes are returned to school including changes of underwear and socks. A light raincoat is always a good idea at this time of year, but we will soon be needing sun hats too. If you would like your child to apply suncream during the day, please make sure you send in a named container. Children will apply the cream themselves, but we will supervise them. Children are not allowed to share cream unless we have specific instructions from both sets of parents!
